We lost the match but gained experience!
Well, today was our match against the Trolls on Weapons Cache SE. Even though we practiced and were all gung-ho I still feel we entered the match very unprepared. We all played well on both sides. All the rounds were close and if nothing else it was a learning experience for us all.
"Oh well, we did pretty good at any rate. I'm proud of us." - Rogue
"I am very Proud of my team my players, and most of all I am proud to be UN today" - Nader
Even though we had numerous practices but it wasn't until our last one that we actually started forming a plan of attack, or defence as well. Case in point, after the third round as assault I (being squad leader) came up with a new strategy as my original plan for attack was ineffective to say the least. However my new improvised plan yielded us a much needed win as assault. What I would liked to have was at least 3 or more formations pre-rehearsed. The improve plan did score us a win but still was not executed exactly as I had planned.
Hubba, hubba, hubba, who do you trust?
"The glue that holds all relationships together - including the relationship between the leader and the led is trust, and trust is based on integrity." - Brian Tracy
As a team and clan we are all still new to playing as a unit. I feel this was the reason for some of our awkward outcome. This was also impacted by the lack of a predetermined chain of command. I took the squad leader position. Now by rights this should put me in charge. This was something that was also never brought up in the practise. I did for the most part lead our team of talent. I wasn't looking for this position but being a load mouth that's usually quick on his feet I found myself taking that initiative.
Here are some really great quotes I found on the topic of "leadership". They are very truthful in their wisdom.
"An effective leader knows the way, shows the way, and goes the way" - Anonymous
This being one of my issues as squad leader on Weapons Cache SE. I had never played this map until the match was announced. Since then I only logged less than 11 hours. This is where I relied on members like Wyatt and Rogue. They both are wanting to lay fault on themselves for the outcome of the match.
"A good leader takes a little more than his share of the blame, a little less than his share of the credit." - Arnold H. Glasgow
So, I guess Wyatt and Rogue are just displaying traits of a good leader in blaming themselves. I too agreed to the changes and had everyone else follow, so, I can take my share of the 'blame' to then. Now having brought up the "blame" situation. Although I feel I did my share keeping everyone "on the ball" through TeamSpeak. I feel I let the team down with my "gash" playing. I think I was the first to die in just about every round. Sadly I have nobody to curse but myself as I naded myself more times then I would like to recall.
"A competent leader can get efficient service from poor troops, while on the contrary an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops." - John J. Pershing
Again I would like to emphasize how well everyone played. [SSD]GOA.Nader, [SSD]Sgt.Sniper%, [SFD]GOA.Java, [4thAD]SMA.Rogue, & [7thCAV]Spl.IceTea all played well. Better then I for certain. We all played hard & serious
"A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves." - Lao Tzu quotes (Chinese taoist philosopher, b.600 BC)
Communication
TeamSpeak is priceless in a team match. Especially when you are making it up as you go. TS can be a life saver but, as I found out during the match too much chatting can be counter productive as well. There were a number of times when the chatting either confused the issue or prevented active players from being able to hear what was happening in the game. Especially on a map like weapons cache when hearing footsteps can save your life. It's hard sometimes not to chat it up when you're dead. But in the reverse of the norm the dead must respect the living and keep their mouth shut!
"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." - John Quincy Adams
In Conclusion...
We played well but there is and always will be room for improvement. We need to work on entry tactics. Me especially, my inside nading gets me killed too often. I play a lot of outdoor maps, as do many other UN members. I played SWAT III and it had awesome training for room sweeping techniques. Things like how to...
Scan a room by making a half circle in front of the door.
When there's 2 or more entering a room leave closing the door for the last person.
The first one to empty the room is the "scout" and needs to clear behind the door and the corners.
When moving one lead person goes until they have a good place to hold and cover for the group to proceed then fall in behind the last.. Then the next in line will do the same.
Those are a few of the things we need to practise. Maybe as team practices or playing with a partner or small group on inside maps working on moving as a unit. Having player partners that you are comfortable and know well, and can anticipate will help everyone else you play with.

Yup you hit the nail at its head Nader.
I know one thing for sure, good leaders stands up in harse situations, they take the leadership in a natural way.
You can point a member to be a FTL, but you find the real leader ingame in the server while playing a war.
Mostly they are the ppl who you dont expect it from.
First tip, if you are a leader, try not to be shot, stay away from the front, stay alive and give orders and anticipate when needed.
If you are the best of the team, another should lead the team and you should be in front focussed for just one thing, killing the opfor.
