The Rising Lan - Endschede, Netherlands June 20-21st
The second Lan event for America's Army in Europe has been announced to take place on June 20th. Building on the success of the Antwerp Lan, the location now switches to the home of cafe's, canals and the red light district of the Netherlands. All teams are invited to attend this exciting weekend of fun and competition with a massive prize fund of upto €2000 given away! The event will all be staged from the purpose built WZZRD Gaming Cafe in Endschede, there will not just be AA on the menu as they have many games, consoles and even a bar to amuse yourselves.
The event will be taking place on Saturday 20th June and Sunday 21st June and will feature an America's Army tournament, building on the success of the previous AA LAN not long ago in The Outpost, Antwerp.
The location is the WZZRD gaming cafe, a famous host to many large EU lans over the past years, including Crossfire Challenge LANs and ESWC events. Now this lan is not just about playing America's Army, its about meeting up with your friends and enjoying some of the many activities offered by the fantastic WZZRD cafe.
You can play on loads of games on different formats, such as the following:
PC games - Call of Duty 5, Call of Duty 4, Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike Source, Battlefield 2, Command And Conquer Red Alert 2, Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft and Need for Speed.
Xbox 360 - Halo 3, Dead or Alive, Gears of War 2 and Guitar Hero World Tour.
Playstation 3 - GTA 4, Pro Evolution Soccor 2009, Fifa 2009 and Soul Calibur 4.
Nintendo Wii - Mario Kart, Wii Sports, Mario and Sonic Olympics and Shaun White Snowboarding
Also if there is enough interest we can organize a fun poker tournament!
So as you can see above, there is tons to do, you will not be bored and there will be plenty to do. In addition to playing games and chilling with friends at the WZZRD cafe there is a bar and cafe, so you can get drunk and eat pizza if you really want to! It works out as cheaply as €28 to play and remember, spectators are allowed free entry, so even if you are not a player you can come and enjoy all the fun with the rest of your AA buddies! There are huts for 15 people really close to the WZZRD cafe, the cost per person for staying here is €18 a night. So not only do you get a very cheap place to stay but you also get to enjoy the company of your friends and even enemies from other teams (this should be interesting).
Now I have seen some people raising some issues about the credibility of this LAN, well I will answer those issues now. This LAN is a community LAN, the idea is to promote the AA scene while at the same time having fun. We made a deal with the WZZRD cafe for this LAN allowing us to use their facilities for 2 days for absolutely free. H2k is not making any profit from this, you can work out everything yourselves with some simple math. 12 teams gives revenue of €1680 (12 x €140 for entrance fee)and a prize pot of €1500. We will use the other €180 for things like H2kTV casting equipment (so everybody at home can enjoy the matches!) and banners and posters and other small administrative things.
This LAN will be far superior to the previous LAN; the location is far better, there are way more activities to keep yourself busy, there is a bar and cafe and cinema on hand, cheap accommodation, cheaper entrance fee's and the ability to win a fair amount of cash.
There are hundreds of images of the WZZRD cafe, to view some of them check out the official WZZRD website or view the images from the famous Crossfire Challenge LANs.
This is a perfect opportunity to have a clan meeting with your friends and get to share in the experience of a Lan event for your favourite game, America's Army. The Wzzrd Cafe really is a great setting for this event, come along and play some games!
